Inspired by The 1975, The Japanese House, and Bleachers, California-born musician and producer, Retrograded aka Jackson Klarsfeld, has established a unique sound that merges dance-worthy rhythms with meaningful lyrics rooted in alternative and pop-rock genres. With a strong background in video production and film, Retrograded emphasizes storytelling, enhancing each song with captivating music videos and content crafted with a bootstraps approach. Following the success of his 2020 album, Red Lights at Midnight, Retrograded has garnered 2.5M+ total streams on Spotify alone.
What started out as a solo project has evolved into a full band that has played several shows across NYC. This summer, they performed at the Times Square live stage to a crowd of 5,000+ in promotion of the latest album, In The Crosswalk, released on 8/8. The album, a long-awaited follow-up to Red Lights at Midnight, arrives four years later, capturing Retrograded’s evolution and creative growth. It was made in spare moments – after work, before social outings, and during social outings. It captures moments of collaboration, hope, and that fleeting sense of joy that comes with letting go of everything and living in the here and now. “Crosswalks,” the opening track, was featured on Apple Music's New in Alternative playlist. Fans can look forward to continued growth and new music in the coming months, promising an exciting chapter for Retrograded in NYC and beyond.
